- More than 1 billion people in the world do not have access to safe drinking water.
- 5 million people, mostly children, die each year from waterborne disease.
- Approximately half of the world's hospital beds are occupied by patients suffering from waterborne disease.
We are accepting submissions from Canadian songwriters, with the following criteria:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
* Deadline of April 1st, 2010.
* We need a song created, that tells the story of a child having to walk miles and miles everyday with a jerry-can, to access water for his/her family...this water is likely to make the child sick (or worse)...
* Male or female artist, and the style is not critical, as long it elicits an emotional response. Pop, soft rock, or ballad, perhaps along the lines of Elton John, Sting, Eric Clapton, or Stevie Wonder.
* We will be using the song as part of a media campaign (theme song), but the artist retains the copyright.
